The
two main objectives of SEIPASA’s R & D department
are: To fulfil the R & D and innovation requirements of
SEIPASA’s customers bearing in mind the constant changes
in new techniques specific to the agricultural sector and
to implement those changes with the involvement of the quality
control department in order to ensure that we offer the best
possible and consistent products to our customers.
Our R & D staff examine all the properties and possible
applications of new raw materials taking into account previous
published research as well as our production facilities and
the processes involved. Any products successfully developed
at our laboratory facilities are then tested in replicated
field trials in order to assess their agronomic potential.
If the results are satisfactory, the final adjustments to
the productions process are carried out before establishing
an industrial production protocol.
At present, our R & D team is made up by a broad range
of scientists and researchers including agronomists, chemists
and pharmacists, which work under the same management team
and in close relation to each other in order to meet costumer
requirements. This enables SEIPASA to react quickly to the
new challenges and threats emerging continuously in the agricultural
sector. Our crop technicians follow up the product performance
in the field and together with users and distributors provide
us with an ongoing feedback required for the constant improvement
of our products.
Our facilities include a state of the art laboratory with
all the required equipment and machinery for the development,
production and quality control of SEIPASA’s products
including fermenting equipment, centrifuge separators, rotovapors,
lyophilisators, mixers, etc.
Some of the R&D priorities and achievements for the current
season include:
PHe06: Development
of control strategies for esca wood rot and eutypa canker
in grapevines.
Two of the major problems in our vineyards are esca and eutypa
rots. At SEIPASA we are carrying out an important research
project in order to mitigate the effects of these devastating
diseases. At present, we are achieving exceptional results
and hope to be able to eradicate these pathogens in the near
future.
PNs07: Efficacy
of vegetal amino acids treatments for plant regeneration in
case of frost damage and other stress factors.
At SEIPASA we take into consideration the current climatic
trends such as long cold winters and try to minimise the effect
of those with new and natural alternatives.
PRy05: The
use of natural products for the control of thrips in greenhouse
production.
The total greenhouse production area in Spain is approximately
50000 Ha. At SEIPASA we have taken into account the importance
of this production system and are constantly searching for
natural and environmental friendly solutions for greenhouse
specific pests and diseases.
PRf05: Effect
of plant extracts on the control of spider mites (Tetranychus
Eotetranychus).
Spider mites are becoming an increasing problem in our crops,
especially in organic farming systems where no effective treatment
is currently available and therefore we are committed to develop
new products which optimise the control of this devastating
pest.
PNd08: Effect
of plant extracts on the control of pathogenic nematodes (Meloidogine,
Heterodera, Pratylenchus, Radopholus, Helicotelenchus y Ditylenchus).
Pathogenic nematodes can cause serious losses in a
wide range of crops and have become and endemic pest problem
in several areas due to overexploitation of the agricultural
soil and the prohibition of a series of chemical nematicides. |
