Seipasa supports the world’s best organic extra virgin olive oil

Seipasa, a company specialized in the formulation, development and marketing of botanical-based solutions (biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers) for agriculture, sponsored the XVII edition of Ecotrama, the Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil International Competition. The event, organized by Ecovalia and Cordoba’s Provincial Council, was held on March 17th at the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the D.O Banea, in Cordoba (Spain).

An international team of 14 oil tasters analyzed the combination of flavor, color and texture of the 74 samples participating in the contest. La Torre Hojiblanca olive oil was the winner of the highest award. He also received the Special Mention for the Best ‘Frutado Verde’. Within the category of ‘Frutado Maduro’, the highest score was for Camino de Aníbal olive oil. In addition, a total of 39 Gold Medals and 11 Silver Medals were delivered among participants.

The CMO of Seipasa, Juan Manuel López, defined Ecotrama as one of the most important events in the world for the promotion of organic olive oils. "In Seipasa we want to be very close to such a key sector for agriculture. The production of organic oil is facing a very positive stage, so the high quality of the samples participating in Ecotrama is the result of this excellent moment. Seipasa wants to support all the efforts made by organic producers and encourage its promotion in each and every market".

The technical director of Ecotrama, José María Penco, insisted on the high quality of participants. "Organic extra virgin olive oils are taking the top positions in olive oil competitions in general. So here, as we are focused only on organic, I’m sure that we have the best organic olive oils in the world with us".

The XVII edition of Ecotrama counted with the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of Andalucia, the Spanish Association of Municipalities of Olive and the City Council of Baena. The winning oils will be presented at fairs and industry events dedicated to the promotion of organic olive oil.
