Seipasa donates fruits and vegetables to the Food Bank
Volunteers from the food banks in Huelva and Cordoba receive the donation made by Seipasa

Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers for agriculture, has donated 2,200 kilos of fruit and vegetables to contribute to the assistance of those groups of people most affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

The food banks of Huelva and Medina Azahara in Córdoba will be responsible for distributing this aid that will be channelled through community entities and bodies that provide support for people and groups most in need. The produce donated includes organic strawberries and zero residue vegetables such as potatoes, leeks, courgettes, and carrots.

According to José María Domínguez, Seipasa's Sales Manager in western Andalusia, the aim of this action is to support the work of entities providing assistance for groups of people most in need and, at the same time, to support the production sector that has also suffered from the impact of the pandemic.

"The economic consequences of Covid-19 are striking society very hard, particularly, the most vulnerable families and groups. This donation is just a small drop in the sea in terms of our social responsibility duties, but it aims to be a gesture of acknowledgement and gratitude to all those entities, such as Food Banks that have redoubled their efforts to cover the essential needs of thousands of people", Mr Domínguez added.

Seipasa's Sales Manager also pointed out that the crisis caused by Covid-19 has highlighted the key role the primary sector plays in our society. "During the most difficult weeks of the crisis the agro-food sector has worked non-stop to guarantee food supplies to our markets. This donation is also our way of showing our support of fruit and vegetable producers".

"All of the players in the production chain have made a tremendous effort", Mr Domínguez added, " but we are now entering a new phase. As companies we must focus on other areas and step up our contributions to alleviate the social consequences of the pandemic".

Donation of face masks

Seipasa has also participated in the donation of face masks for more than 100,000 workers who are taking part in the seasonal fruit picking campaign. This initiative has been promoted by AEFA, the Spanish Agricultural Nutrients Manufacturers Association, of which Seipasa is a member.
