Equisetum Arvense increases resistance of plant structures to fungal diseases
Equisetum Arvense increases the resistance of the plant structure against fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, botrytis, alternaria, septoria and phytophthora. Equisetum Arvense contains a high amount of silicon in the form of silicic acid. Silicon-rich compounds provide structural stability to plant tissues and increase the resistance of plant cells to phytopathogenic enzymes.
The plant uses silicic acid in two ways: by polymerizing the silicic acid to transform it into an amorphous solid and as an instrumental component for the formation of organic defense compounds. Equisetum Arvense also acts as an elicitor activating the plant's defence mechanisms and manifests itself both in the xylem conductive vessels and between the primary and secondary cell walls. The plant compounds used in Equisetum Arvense are broad-spectrum with marked antimicrobial activity.
Key points of Equisetum Arvense:
- Preventive effect against the development and spread of fungal diseases
- Inactivate the sporulation of fungi.
- Increases the resistance of plant cell walls.
- Can be applied the day before harvest.
